Ever since I was a young child, I have enjoyed looking through a viewfinder, and then freezing a moment of time onto a physical piece of film. Being able to hold it, study it and reflect upon it, allowed me to pre-visualize another image in my mind, and then travel to many destinations until I found what I was looking for. For the past 20+ years I have traveled throughout the world, photographing architecture and landscapes with a vision that few others are able to see.
While studying architecture, then mechanical engineering in college, I developed an eye for black and white photography. I then set out to combine my love for nature and its surroundings with the technical printing required to create a masterful fine art print. In doing so, I have studied with many professionals, including Howard Bond, Monte Nagler and John Sexton, who in turn have studied with Ansel Adams. Over the years I have spent less time in the darkroom and more time shooting digital, which has opened up a world of color to my portfolio.
I travel and teach less than in years past, but I still manage to judge competitions at local camera clubs or the 4H fair in order to help others “see” with a black and white eye.
All in all, the real joy comes from seeing others look into my photographs, sense an emotion that I have captured, and experience that very instant of a moment frozen in time.
Capture life on film, and live life to its fullest.
